St. Peter School is a Catholic School located in the heart of downtown Danbury. We serve students from Danbury and surrounding towns. We are a faith-filled community that strives to not only teach the Gospel, but to live the Gospel each and every day. We are proud of our diverse multicultural community. We have offered over 100 years of Catholic Education in the City of Danbury. We continue today as a true example of furthering the Catholic Faith through academic excellence and spiritual development and creating lifelong learners who are responsible disciples of Jesus Christ.
Our Mission Statement
St. Peter School exists to provide a nurturing environment where students become Disciples of Jesus Christ, embrace the love of lifelong learning, and believe in the dignity of all people.
Dear St. Peter Community and Prospective Families,
I welcome you to St. Peter School and encourage you to peruse the website and schedule a time to visit our school. There are many reasons to choose a Catholic education for your child. Here are just a few:
We partner with parents in the faith formation of their children.
We prepare students to be productive citizens and future leaders..
We provide a balanced academic curriculum that integrates faith culture, and life.
We teach children to be respectful of themselves and others.
We emphasize moral development and self-discipline.
We provide an environment where students become Disciples of Jesus Chist.
We know that choosing a Catholic education for your child is a tremendous sacrifice. We appreciate your willingness to make that sacrifice and invest in the future for your child.
St. Peter School is a special place. We have seen enrollment growth over the past few years. In addition, we have seen improvements in security procedures and building/facilities upgrades. We have added an academic support teacher to assist with students who have special needs as well as a school counselor to ensure that our students are succeeding academically, socially, personally, and spiritually. Great things are happening at St. Peter School, and I feel honored and blessed to be a part of this growing PK-8 school community.
St. Peter School is fortunate to have pastor, Father Gregg Mecca, lead us along our faith journey. In addition, our school is staffed by dedicated faculty who have the interests of each unique child at the forefront of their teaching.
In closing, I would like to share some student thoughts about St. Peter School as you consider a Catholic School education for your child.
“I learn about religion and I can spread the Good News!” Grade 3 Student
"I moved from New York two years ago. The first day of school I was greeted by teachers that gave me a cordial feeling. At this point I knew that this school is more than a group of people that belongs to a school but a family. This school is very diverse and makes you feel comfortable to learn. The strong Catholic education helps me to become a wiser and more courageous person of God." Grade 8 Student
"What does it mean to attend St. Peter School? For me it means greatness and responsibility. In this school the teachers are very helpful and supportive. Our Principal makes sure that we are safe and protected." Grade 7 Student
“I am thankful for the St. Peter School community because everyone has a kind heart and respects others. I am also thankful for having a tiny school that is easy to navigate. Finally, I am thankful for being part of a school which everyone loves.” Grade 7 Student
“They [teachers] teach us in kind ways and when you are shy, they help you to be confident.” Grade 4 Student
We look forward to talking to you in the near future as you consider if St. Peter School is the place for you!
Yours in Christ,
MaryLou Torre, Principal
