Hello, my name is Maryann Hanrahan and I am thrilled to be a new member of the St. Peter’s school community. I was born and raised in Mount Vernon, NY, and have been a resident of Danbury for 26 years. My husband and I have two grown sons and two wonderful grandchildren. 

Teaching is my second career. I began teaching after my boys started school, and have been teaching for 15 years. Every morning, I wake up feeling blessed and privileged to be able to share my faith and to be part of a vibrant community of curious students. 

I have taught grade 3, grade 5, and 7th and 8th-grade math. Math has always been my favorite subject. Although I almost always earned excellent grades, I always had to work hard and study a great deal in order to do well. I know some students may not like math or may find it a little confusing.  Every year since I started teaching, I have reminded my students that each class is a community of learners. Together, we will form a team, we work hard and help one another. Success in my class is defined by each student reaching their God-given potential. So, here is my formula for success: put God first each day, follow the example of Jesus, always put forth your best effort, and have a positive attitude.
