About Our School

St. Peter School is a Catholic School located in the heart of downtown Danbury. We serve students from Danbury and surrounding towns. We are a faith-filled community that strives to not only teach the Gospel, but to live the Gospel each and every day. We are proud of our diverse multicultural community. We have offered over 100 years of Catholic Education in the City of Danbury. We continue today as a true example of furthering the Catholic Faith through academic excellence and spiritual development, creating lifelong learners who are responsible disciples of Jesus Christ.

Faculty & Staff

The teachers are the heart of St. Peter School. They set the foundation for future learning both academically and spiritually. The passion they have for their vocation is evident in the successes of their students.

All members of the professional staff are either certified or what the State considers to be the equivalent of certified. All have been approved by the Diocese of Bridgeport and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. All staff members have gone through background checks.

Mission Statement

St. Peter School, dedicated to academic excellence, inspires students to become Faith-filled, lifelong learners. As a multi-cultural community, we embrace our Catholic Identity rooted in the Gospel teachings of Jesus Christ.

St. Peter School History

On September 6, 1886, St. Peter School opened its doors. The Sisters of Mercy staffed the school when it opened. Over the years, dedicated lay teachers were added to the faculty. Today the school is staffed completely by lay teachers. A preschool was added in 1982 for three and four year old children. In September of 2006 Saint Peter and Sacred Heart were merged into St. Peter Sacred Heart School. Children from pre-K through grade 4 were housed at Sacred Heart Campus and grades 5-8 were housed at St. Peter Campus. Infants and toddlers were welcomed into St. Peter Sacred Heart School at the Sacred Heart Campus and grade 4 moved to the St. Peter School Campus at the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year. The Day Care Center was known as “Little Lambs Early Learning Center" of Sacred Heart School. The Sacred Heart Campus closed in June 2013. Since the opening of the 2013-2014 school year, St. Peter School has served children in grades Pre-K through Grade 8.
