Fifth Graders are learning some exciting things!!!
Reading

We are begining our Historical Fiction Unit. Students will be reading the book Number the Star and discover the elements of Historical Fiction. We are also diving into Poetry for the month of April. Students will be reading and writing their own poetry.
Writing

We are working on our Opinion unit. Fifth graders are working on forming opinions about school, community, or world issues. They are learning to defend their opinions with three strong reasons.
Math

We are currently working on our fractions. Fifth graders are working on adding/subtracting/multiplying and dividing fractions. They are also learning to simplify fractions into simplest terms.
Science/Social Studies

Science: We are currently studying Ecosystems. Our focus this week is on Food Chains, Food Web and what happens when a Ecosystem is disturb.

Social Studies: We are working on the First Colonies of the United States. They will try to solve the mystery of Roanoke, learn how the first settlement at Jamestown survived and led to the growth of our nation.
